What the hell is happening to pool up north?!!!
Seems to be a big lack of interest - after last years meeting when dave, bron and myself came up i thought things were on the up?!
A large number of you got into the teams for brid and i-o-m and did well - yet since then we aint heard a thing down here.......
county seems to be going down the pan - fletcher has had to save the tour! - no interest is generated up there whatso ever? - or is it just me? - if it is at very least you need some one who can communicate with us/ yourselfs???
Is Ian Roberts still sec up there? - aint heard of him or seen hide nor hare of him for a year? - someone needs to take over up there and grab it by the throat - its all there for you - the same chances that fall to ppl in the south - the same set up - just no organiser/planner/communicator - surely some one can do it - as i said me nor bron or dave have heard off ian in months - maybe no-one wants it?
Come on guys your a huge part of welsh pool and the wpa but someone up there needs to take charge and communicate with ppl - someone with the interest of the players - since kev has gone we dont hear a thing.
any views? |

its always been the same since i can remember Bushy, well for the past 15 yrs anyway! The interest simply not up North! The only way the north will get better is playing against the best in wales which is playing against you guys down south! Get the wot played on one day down there and hopefully the north players would support it & do them selfs some justice on it! |

I would love to know wot is happening in the north with the superleague.
I have three teams in Welshpool this year all desperate to find out wots going on, i had an email off Ian Roberts in December, but now i cannot get a reply off him, or any contact.
BRING BACK MARK STEPHENS.
Is anything going to happen in the north 2010 ? Also why should we be split like this its as if Wales is two different countries !!!!! |

We would love to know what happened last year, no body knows if Caernarfon & District A won the league as there was a few outstanding games to be played. We would also like to know were will our B team be playing next season, 1st Division or 2nd.

Best way forward for pool in north wales is to form a committee from every county team / area, 1 or 2 players or representatives from each league, they could be in charge of the county set up and the wot, ??????? the venue is still there, but it needs sorting, so whoever;s in charge can book the room,
i can understand why kevin and now fletcher has lost patience with running it on there own, no help setting up, no help running it, just left to do everything, yes fair play to a few (no names mentioned) incase i leave someone out,
it's a lot of work for one person,
lets hope it gets sorted asap,
first thing you want to know, is the north wales sec still doing the job, if not get another,
then find out who's still in the county set up, ( who's paid up) then sort the fixtures, all that can be done down south, as they are the only ones who know's who's paid,
then we have a few months to find a few to carry on with the wot, interested names would be a start, spoke to fletch he's sorting the last comp soon,
not sure about regional, thats dead already i think, |

I talked to Paul last night and offered to do the North Wales Sec job if nobody else wants it. It can't be that hard to let County managers know what's happening and keeping a record of results and merits surely??
I'd only be willing to get involved with the County set up though. I wouldn't touch the NWOT with a 10ft barge pole. Too much stress and next to no gratitude for taking time out and arranging the thing. Fair play to Fletch and Kev before him for taking responsibility for the tour, I wouldn't do it, that's for sure.
Why do things that happen to stupid people keep happening to me? |

What’s wrong with North Wales pool? – how long have you got……?
The biggest problem is the same one that has been here for the 25 + years that I’ve been playing – the vast majority of players want to put nothing into the actual running of the game and just want turn up and play whether it’s league, interleague, regional or the NWOT.
Chippedtip – I’ve seen a lot of your posts on various sites and know that you are fully aware that pool players in general are an ungrateful bunch who will moan at the slightest problem but offer no help in solving it. That is exactly what the problem is up here.
The three factors that helped get the NWOT off the ground were Paul Williams, C’von Town Football Club and most of all Kevin Roberts. The first year was a success but I could see how the format – having to set up / take down the tables and clear the room – was stressful for those organising it. This has continued this year for Fletch and the group of people that help him out. I think that CTFC is a good venue who has supported the tour well not only by providing the room, but also by buying the 4 extra tables which were needed.
I have listened to people from the Anglesey / Bangor / C’von / Colwyn Bay / Rhyl areas complain for years that there were no decent pool competitions in the locality yet when a decent tour is set up, they don’t support it. The majority of the players who support the NWOT are from Bangor, C’von and Flintshire. Apart from the odd exception next to nobody from Anglesey, Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Rhyl, Wrexham, Deeside, Mid Wales etc have attended the events despite each area having teams in the Interleague.
I have also heard people moan about the distance they have to travel to CTFC but what choice is there? – There are no Pool Clubs in North Wales and I might be wrong but the Football Club is the only place that actually wanted the NWOT. If there was a decent club anywhere in the North then running the tour would be relatively easy but there isn’t, and this is the biggest problem facing the tour. I don’t think the venue is the problem regarding the number of players entering as Mark Stephen’s very well run tour in Chester had a similar number of players entering.
I have really enjoyed playing on the tour and hope it carries on in 2010 however I fear for it’s future.
After all the arguments about North Wales not getting a “fair crack of the whip” regarding National pool, the support – or rather lack of it - for both the NWOT and the Regional Team maybe show that in the past we got what we deserved……………
Knowing what the problem is, is one thing – solving it, is another.

the wot down south has to many to play in one day joe, so get more players playing on the nwot. And likewise with county and pool in north wales in general. Its a joke that no one takes any pleasure or pride in pool in north wales to actually govern and manage it properly. someone needs to step up and getti it promoted and running smoothly and help it grow.

the one is right there needs to be a committee for the North. In my opinion both the tour and county needs to be run by the same people. The tour would then get better promotion. And it would save confusion as to who is in charge.
One thing to look at would be to slightly reduce the entry fee, as I believe some less experienced players became fed up of paying £15 and losing early. Suppose if we got more entries for a lower entry fee, the prize money would be similar anyway, so still the incentive for the potential winners to walk away with a good day's wage even after the £2.50 players fund is factored in. Just one idea.
We need to offer each county team a place on the North committee (ideally the captain) . It wouldn't be that difficult, and wouldn't require much effort, just so long as everyone communicates effectively.
As for venues, it has been suggested that places in Chester, Llandudno etc be used. Fine, if anyone from those areas wants to organize that, all the better. It would mean that we wouldn't have to go to the trouble of building the tables from scratch every single tour. (although we'll still do it if it's our only option).
When all said and done, enough people have paid enough lip service to the cause, now is time to take some positive steps to bring in a commitee for the North with some new ideas to get more people on the tour and county run properly |

Some great views and comments on here - 3 or 4 of you now have to step up to lift pool in the north - it doesnt need to be a great amount of effort put in, mainly just a bit of enthusiasm and communication will help a great deal. |

Chipped Tip is right.can you let us have your Committee structure ASAP.
We'll then sort links between the 2 tours , Interleagues and WPA Committee.
If you need any help or info let Chipped Tip or me know.
In the meantime if you've any fixture queries, contact Mike Dunn AKA The Mancunion on WPA site.I' ll ask him to register and update you on here. |

I'm sorry but the NWOT died the day Mike Smout won the tour and was put in the B2's.
We all know that, right? |
