The one thing that is missing is also the most important - a suitable venue.

The only tables that are good enough IMHO are in CTFC which is a "Members Only" club.

Unless anyone knows of a suitable venue - with at least one really good table - that will allow these sort of games to take place?

This type of thread surfaces every now and again however very few games actually get played.

Pity.

correct andy, the only other way pass that is, hold it on a saturday afternoon using all the tables in the lounge, and whoevers entering should also help to set up and keep them at the end, ,

mention that an most of em will run a mile ! even locals !

To be fair Steve it's a bit of a thankless task. I've seen Kev and Fletch doing their best to run a WOT for the whole of North Wales only to get shot down with snide remarks and a lack of gratitude. There's no wonder pool is in the state it is in North Wales, people are happier to complain than to help it seems.
Why do things that happen to stupid people keep happening to me?

Mr O
Nobody has made snide remarks towards kev or fletch to my knowledge m8 ? I'm saying that there are plenty of people willing to put in their tuppence worth as to how things should be run but when it comes down to the work they're nowhere to be seen... you know who you are...Wink

Why not arrange another £50 a man tourney?

The last one had a good turnout and was well run, unfortunately though the one person that was most likely to arrange it is no longer interested.

Anyone else willing to step up to the plate?

That's a good idea.

The format that was used last time worked well and it ment players didn't have to spend hours waiting for their early matches.

If this was held in the CFTC lounge with 4 tables then it would be played in a day assuming it was restricted to 16 players.

The ongoing problem with the same people having to set up the tables might be eased if the individuals concerned were compenstated for their efforts either by reduced entry fees or by a small cash payment taken from the prize pool.

A question for those who have set up the tables in the lounge - how long does it take to set the 4 tables up and how much extra time after this is required to brush / iron / level them etc.

It's easy for me to comment on this problem as I don't live near C'von but to be honest nobody is going to travel 30, 40, 50 miles to help set up the tables the day before and therefore the same people end up doing all the work - I think it's only fair to give them something for their efforts.

I would be quite happy to help out an event like this in anyway I can - I know a lot of people don't like dealing with the money side of things and I'd be quite happy doing that.

You are right about what's the problem with North Wales pool in general - see my comments in the "whats wrong with pool in the north" thread however I personally havn't heard that many complaints on how the NWOT has been run.

In an ideal world there shouldn't be any complaints as those who are carrying out the various tasks are only doing it to help the game go forward.

I think the vast majority of players who have attended the NWOT are grateful for effort that Kev/Fletch/Paul and all their helpers have put in during the last 2 years. I am anyway.
